We are now chilling on a little island called Sri Lanka in a cool little town called Midigama. We have made friends with some cool cats but one stands out a little from the rest, we’ll call him Mr FRED. Now mr Fred is a German (surprise surprise) but he is not like any German you’ll met, he’s chilled doesn’t talk to much, only when he has something good to say (not like me talking all the time), but the best thing about our new friend Mr Fred, is he helped us fall in LOVE with Kniffel (Yahtzee). I have played this game as a kid and when i seen him playing it, i was like Boring!!!!, but after a game or 100 by now I love it.. So i have to say a big thanks to fred for leaving it behind so we can keep playing. What would we do without Kniffel? S#@T we might have to talk to each other or clean my room, so thanks again Fred for being you !!!! 🙂

Worst surf so far but oh well
I sweet talked Pax and the crew to go for a second surf at midday today – just because it was uncrowded and pretty nice yesterday at the same time. Today it was well still uncrowded but so bumpy and the current was strong anyways still tropical – still paradise and the GoPro decided to tag along to.
Day off in Midigama
After 17 days straight in the surf the swell was a bit to messy this morning and the current looked just as strong as yesterday so we’ve been out and about in the village, just relaxing and playing a few games of Yatzy or as our German friends say Kniffel. My arms and shoulders are quite happy they got the day off to but seriously we’ve been so lucky with the waves so far – can’t remember if I had these many consecutive days of surfing ever?
Surf looks nice on the pic but it was fat, big, messy and a strong current on top of that
Making new friends – as a tourist you’re every street dogs best friend – they follow you around anywhere.
Sunset in Sri Lanka
We went for a little walk after dinner last night to see the sunset, What we ended seeing was a little bit more surprising. Cow’s crossing the road at their own cow crossing (thats anywhere they want) but we ended up seeing an amazing sunset..
Photo bomb = first week in Sri Lanka!
After two weeks in Thailand we jumped planes and ended up in a very quiet Sri Lankan village called Midigama not to be confused with Welligama or Mirissa…
There’s not to much going on here except for surfing which is exactly what we are after. So happy to be sharing fun little waves with turtles, and the water is so clear and warm – just loving it.
We’ve been hanging out with Mike & Viv for a few days having some rum, crashing peoples quiet and romantic dinner (sorry – it was the rum’s fault!), celebrating st patty’s day with some crazy irish, checking out the old Portuguese fort in Galle just north of where we are staying, surviving this crazy Sri Lankan disco bus ride with neon Buddha dancing at the front and eating some amazing curries – thanks Mike and Vivo – good times! Some photos from the past days below.
Yoga Me & GANDHI
We have been in Thailand for the last two week for Anders & Rodnas wedding, there are no waves here so i thought it would be a nice idea to do some yoga. We started with some HOT YANG yoga, A sequence of 26 postures and Pranayama breathing. This yoga is practiced in a room heated to no higher than 38 degrees Celsius and is 75 minutes long sounds easy i thought Hmmmmmmm. It started out nice and HOT and by the end i wanted to die (I have never sweat that much in all my life, it was like my body was raining on my matt) but after doing it for another 10 days i got into the grove, and now we are leaving i will miss it. The good news is we are off to find waves in Sri Lanka, so stay posted it’s only fun and sun from here on !!!!!! I never got any video of me doing yoga (don’t want to show off) but here is one of GANDHI doing some. WE LOVE THIS VIDEO !! ………
Pax’s pie addiction and the Australian Boardriders Battle
When Pax realised that Team Argentina (Steph and Fred) had never ever been to the greatest pie shop known to man the weekend surf trip quickly turned into a pie trip… I’m not complaining they do a good coffee and the staff knows our order even though we live three hours away…
Before hitting the coast I had a cruise down the beach to check out the final of the Australian Board riders Battle where the local surf clubs around Australia compete against each other. I walked down just as Tyler Wright was surfing. I left before she put it all on the line and went left – left at the Alley means straight for the rock pool…
14 days on the road. Let’s make it 365?
We’ve just done 14 days on the road over Christmas and New Years. Back in Sydney and it’s time to start planning for the big one as in the big trip. The year of 2015 is going to be a travel year. Ever since me and Pax met we’ve talked about doing a big trip together. “If haven’t killed each other living together for a year it’s time to go”. We have a wedding in Thailand on the agenda in March but other than that the road is pretty much open 🙂 Welcome 2015 – we’re going surfing! Where?! Maybe Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Central America….
Some photo’s from the road below.
Pedro our trustworthy van is staying at home this year.
But he fits 4 surfboards, 3 camping chairs, a gas stove, 10 liters of water, two hammocks, cooking stuff, camera gear, lap tops, skateboards. Pretty much anything, it’s so nice not having to pack and travel light for a change.
Australia must be the best country for road trips, you’ll find toilets (with paper), out door showers close to every beach almost, outside free BBQ’s and why not a little picnic house when the sun is to strong.
Please Don’t Pee in the Pool
Happy holidays & the new GoPro 4
Guess what I got for my birthday?! Oh yes a new GoPro the version 4 – I’m so spoilt, ha ha! Anyways it’s already Day 10 of our Christmas/New Years roadtrip on the South Coast and here’s some water shots from the last few days. We’ve got so many photos and videos but not to much internet. Waves been pretty small and the summer seems to be hiding somewhere 🙂 Anyways enjoy the holidays and we’ll see you next year 🙂 Lot’s of love <3
This is one of my all time faves on the South Coast – Green Island or Cunjurong point.
Let’s go surfing Paxito!
Water was even nice for body surfing…
A Day Underwater!!!
Now that the days are getting longer and a lot lot LOT warmer, it time to get the gang and start playing in the water with the underwater camera ( Its been in hibernation since 1982 haha feels that long anyway). So i got the gang together (anyone that would come with me) and off we went. When we where there we made friends with a cool little dude called Mitchell who ended up taking the best photos of the day, NICE WORK MITCH !!!! Here’s what happened (see photos below)
The Nole Master Looking all sexy with his goggles 🙂

After a long day in the water its time to hit the road and go find some food.. Thanks to the gang from a cool day out !!!!
Lazy Sunday ocean dwelling
Not much going on the last few weeks. I’ve been away for work and now it’s almost December – end of the year… We had a nice visit from the Gold Coast over the weekend – Kumi came down so we went for a drive. Not to many waves around but ocean is getting warmer and it was so hot on Sunday so nice for a paddle 🙂 I got a wrist strap for the GoPro and figured I’d take it for a try – it’s a bit to big for me but worked alright. Let’s see if I can get a wave with it next time 🙂
Weekend stuff and a 9 feet log coming this way?
I’m pretty sure I’m suffering from some sort of post holiday trauma by being back in the office and not eating enough nasi goreng…
So Friday at 5:15 PM – here’s my pick up!
Heading south on the M1 – just flying through traffic and watching the sun go down.
Woke up to this, photo’s might not show it but the Golf Course looked pretty much the best I’ve ever seen it. Just that there was a bloody longboard competition on so we decided to keep looking for waves.
To messy/small/windy/wrong swell direction/ugly/not feeling it – you name it – we found it.
So back to the drawing board = keep on heading south…
We probably would have paddled out here but then skippy said locals only and scratched his nose and I’m not sure what that means so back on the road. Again.
This looks like a brand new spot for us – and only two people out? We would have paddled out here if it wasn’t to crowded?
Here we go – did not find waves but Noel, Billy & Takea!
& this guy wanted to join to…
So now it looks like we might have found some surf but not to sure, so just doing some board drumming…
Really looks like we’ve found something?
Oh yes when in doubt – let’s surf the pond!
(Actually we did surf and I borrowed Noels mini-mal and I had about a million fun waves so now I feel like I have to buy a long board. Like a 9 feet log. But with that comes a logistic issue since someone is very against having roof racks on top of the VW. )
Hammocking and hanging out
It doesn’t take long to get used to the traveling life again, we’re spending a lot of time doing not to much which takes up a lot of time for some reason. Since we spent a lot of time here there’s a lot of familiar faces and Bali is just one of those places that people come back to and tend to stay for a long time so we’ve been pretty busy doing some catch ups with friends we haven’t seen in a while.
Surfboard parking outside room number 9 – sembilan.
Stopping by Maruf and his lovley wife Dewi who has a cute little warung up the street for a coffee and some food.
Maruf does surf trips to G-land (Pax has been last time) and Red Island – much recommended. This time we don’t have enough time for it.
Picking up our washing – now we smell good again.
Longest left hander in Bali? Anyways so much fun!
Another coffee – tastes so good after surf 🙂
Bintang and sunset time
SURF FUN SUN
After a great afternoon surf its nice to come back to the best outdoor shower ever.
Great way to finish the day a chill in the hammock and watching the sun go down.. xx
ME HAPPY – BALI – NEXT WEEK – ADUH!
Yesterday – talking about the labor day-Pax birthday week that we’ve both have off in October. Figured we’d do a roadie maybe up north somewhere. But then I’m not sure well I ended up booking tickets to Bali instead. It’s just for a week but still bikini surf and 5 dollar massages – here I come. It’s the most expensive tickets to Bali I’ve ever booked from here and also the shortest stay with only 8 nights but we’re off next Friday and I’m so happy!! I can’t wait for that heat to hit me when I step out of the plane, waking up somewhere in noisy Kuta complaining about how much things have changed since last time. Getting a bike and driving off to find some waves somewhere. Eat Sleep Surf on repeat.
Welcome to Sydney’s only private beach – Boat Harbour
How a beach can be owned by a private company itself… well anyways if you follow the beach as far north as you can from the south of cronulla you’ll get to Boat Harbour. That’s what we did on sunday after – deciding the surf was too small and full, going back home to pick up something someone forgot. Boat Harbour is a tiny community with a few small beach shacks that reminds me a bit of Christiania in Copenhagen but a bit more low key or maybe a lot. There’s no electricity and the people who live there’s pretty much off the grid I guess and I always find that so fascinating. Let me see where I can sign up for my own shipping container. Before they bulldoze it all away and build a business park.
Photos below I snaked from the internet.
Summer is in Crescent Head!
Was a long weekend for us since I had the Monday off and Pax usually doesn’t work Mondays so – Hello to you again Crescent Head! Crescent Head is a sleepy beach town five hours drive north from us (depending on traffic ;)), somewhere in the middle of us and the Gold Coast maybe. I’ve been there a few times before but this is the first time I actually surfed the main point. It’s been so overcrowded when we’ve been there before and there’s so many good options for uncrowded waves in the area but Saturday morning I had some super duper fun waves again (hello right hand point break I missed you). Then the swell and some stormy weather rolled in and made a big mess of the ocean so we resorted to the pub for pool, drinks and a few games of shit head.
Our on the road home.
Stopping in Forster on our way back to Sydney.
Cold pressed juice stop – so nice when you find some good food on the road.
Boomerang Beach outside Forster, we need to do some exploring around this area to.
180 South
So you have been working for the last few years wondering what to do next, buy a house? new car?
maybe use your 4 weeks holiday and take a trip?. It seems like we all live day to day to make money for what?. After watching with documentary (180 south) it come to me that its easy for us to make out lives complicated not so easy to simplify it. After watching this movie of a man doing one of his dreams and making his crazy city life nice and simple, I now know that what we need to do with our lives is to find more time to do the things we love. This movie will touch a place in your sole that needs to take the first step to finding some long awaited adventure. Next time you are looking for something to do on that boring day inside then its raining or just what to spark up your sole, go find this movie and start living you way 🙂 …
ITS NOT AN ADVENTURE TILL SOMETHING GOS WRONG !!!
